Irena Urban, MD, PhD is an otorhinolaryngologist and audiologist. She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Medical Academy of Silesia (now Medical University of Silesia in Katowice). Afterwards, she completed the 1st level of specialisation in otolaryngology at the Ministry of Interior and Administration Hospital in Katowice. She got her PhD in 2001 with a PhD thesis “Acousticotoemission under general anesthesia and extracorporeal circulation in children”. Then, she completed the 2nd level of specialisation in audiology at The Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing in Warsaw (finally obtained in 2012) and Clinical Department of Laryngology in Medical Academy of Silesia in Zabrze in 2002. In addition, she is a member of the Polish Society of Oto-Rhino-Laryngologists and Head and Neck Surgeons (Polskie Towarzystwo Otorynolaryngologów Chirurgów Głowy i Szyi), Polish Audiological and Phoniatric Society (Polskie Towarzystwo Audiologiczno-Foniatryczne). She takes part in a wide variety of courses, workshops, conferences and congresses, and is an author and co-author of many scientific publications on otorhinolaryngology, audiology and the related fields.
